What happened This year

This year was 2008. The 15th year of my existence. What did I do this year? It doesn't seem like I did a lot. To make it seem cooler than it was, I decided to condense it all into a list.


I:

- Celebrated the new year
- managed to just barely pass my first year of high school
- purchased a mandolin and named it after Paul McCartney's bass
- stopped hating Pavement, and started loving them
- started buying more vinyls
- got really into John Coltrane and Dave Brubeck
- went to Virginia Beach
- Saw Josh Ritter, the Disco Biscuits, and a few other shitty jam bands.
- Chilled backstage with Wayne Coyne, Steve Drozd, and the Josh Ritter band and appeared on stage with the Flaming Lips (and naked women) for a whole concert
- wrote hundreds of songs
- recorded a couple dozen songs
- adopted a new alter-ego "Ack Ristley"
- made some new friends
- started a folk-take on a local metal band and named it "The Beauty of Skies"
- avoided a law suit from the lead singer of said local metal band
- became obsessed with Animal Collective
- became obsessed with David Bowie
- became obsessed with Person Pitch by Panda Bear
- got disappointed by Ben Folds's new album
- got disappointed by of Montreal's new album
- saw the Elephant Six orchestra of Will Hart, Julian Koster, Jeff Mangum, Bill Doss, Scott Spillane, Nana Grizol, and many others
- said "Hi" to Scott Spillane while he was having a cigarette before the show
- almost finished recording my first album
- broadcasted on AUDIBLE radio
- became a moderator for Lemon Demon's website-forum
- gained a few hundred listeners for my band
- started a band with other people
- bought a few dozen albums
- found out Will Hart has multiple sclerosis
- bought a painting by Will Hart
- decorated my room with posters
- got a new laptop
- continued paying off my laptop
- entered a dramatic nudity-less movie I made in an hour into an amateur porn contest
- won the amateur porn contest
- shot a bunch of videos and put them on YouTube
- became a member of Something Awful
